Our Approach
Training Built By People Who Actually Answer The Phone
Central Florida CDL School was founded by Nathan and Judy, a husband-and-wife team with a combined 100+ years of industry experience both behind the wheel and on the business side of trucking. It's a genuinely family-run operation — not a franchise, not a call center — built by two people with a real passion for the road.
That shows up in how we treat students. Every driver who walks through our door is a person, not a number, and we hold ourselves to the same standard of integrity in how we train as we do in how we run the business. Our goal isn't just handing you a license — it's making sure you actually succeed once you're out there. We see our students as family, and that doesn't end at graduation — we follow up and check in to see how you're doing long after you've left us.
That starts with the basics done right. Every student gets a full 4 hours of on-road training, not just range time. We layer in defensive safety training, logbook and hours-of-service instruction, flatbed securement, and trucking atlas training — the paper-map skills GPS can't replace when a rig's height, weight, or a dead cell signal leaves a driver stuck.
It also means being honest about scheduling. We're open 7 days a week, with extended evening hours Monday through Thursday, later than most CDL schools in the area, because we know most of our students are working a job, raising a family, or both while they train. If a short timeframe or our hours make it hard to finish on schedule, we won't bill you to repeat the whole course. And if you don't pass your skills test, it's only a small fee to retake the test itself — we stand behind our 100% pass rate because we train thoroughly.
We've seen this training work firsthand. Nathan and Judy trained their own son, who's now a driver for Melton Trucking — and Central Florida CDL School is one of few schools in Central Florida that Melton recruits directly from. That partnership means we can help connect our graduates with real job opportunities, not just a license and a handshake.
"Our own son came through this program and now drives for Melton. This isn't just a business to us — it's personal."
